Lately a fire burned down a whole branch of City Box, a company offering storage space. The Amsterdam's location of City Box it was. Since I'm holding office at a pretty nice top floor, the view allowed to keep an eye on the happening. As I had stored nearly all, yes: all!, my stuff (from furniture to books to stereo, etc) in such a box for a couple of years when I went abroad, I had some sort of déjà vu'ing feelings watching the fume. Don't understand why this could have happened though, as those companies/buildings are restricted to lots of safety rules (voorzien van sprinklers en die dingen).

Dear Gerben Dollen,

I am a Communication Design student at Design College Potsdam in Berlin, Germany. I was traveling the word for ten month until I went to study at Maastricht Art Academie about a year ago. After one year I decided to continue my studies in my hometown Berlin. I have been doing my own graphical works since 8 years. I have always been interested in the cosmos of Arts and Design occurring on festivals like Berlin „Design Mai“.

The reason I am applying for this internship is hat I am eager to get an insight into the everyday working life in an agency. My studies include a lot of practical exercise on development and exert on design processes. But having the real life experience lets me comprehend it much better I believe.

Regarding your agency’s international orientation and my dutch influenced approach of design I am attracted by an intern position at your agency. Furthermore I am convinced I am used to team dynamics. I know team discussion and collective working from school very well. That is why together solution of problems is my regular way of work.

My very own goal in this internship is to step closer to the industry and to gain knowledge on the particular design field. I would like to get to known to the entire design process from contest to presentation better whereas I see myself in a supplement role.

I would be happy having the chance to intern at your office.

Uit VKbanen.

Years ago while on Sneekweek we had seen probably the nicest canal boat ever, sturdy named De Tor. Recently De Tor passed my house. Shocked and excited by a bubbling déjà vu I couldn't make a photo in such a hurry. Last week I spotted it moored at the Prinsengracht.





However, this boat doesn't sync with my brain and it in there archived visual memory. I think it's another wich by chance has the same name. Otherwise it's quite a disillusion.
